The CONTENT CLOUD is an installation for the CONTENT AWARD, which is organised by ZIT - The Technology Agency of the City of Vienna.

As part of the on-going debate surrounding the UK's future aviation strategy we have submitted a proposal to the Airports Commission to respond to a forecast capacity shortage in aviation.
LINK 1
LINK 2
It has been argued that the Greater London Area in particular intends to maintain or even expand its role as a mega-hub.
The Airport Commission is under immense pressure to announce tangible plans or present reasonable strategic guidelines.
In either case, the expected result will be some form of expansion in response to shortage.
We want to demonstrate that the proposed DRIVE THROUGH AIRPORT would provide fast and efficient aircraft handling beyond today's state-of-the-art capacities,
providing an efficient long-term hub solution that otherwise cannot be achieved.
In creating this proposal we tried to follow a neutral approach.
We believe a reasonable outcome can only evolve out of an exchange of ideas, thorough research and bold decisions based on empirical analysis.
We want to clarify that it is not our intention to push for or against a certain scenario for the South East of the UK.
We intend only to make the Commission and the public aware that alternative airport systems, such as the DRIVE THROUGH AIRPORT,
are feasible and, we believe, would contribute positively to the world by improving capacity, efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
We carried out performance studies implementing DTA technology in Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Thames Estuary and Birmingham Airport.
The DTA design case studies are overlayed (grey) with recently presented proposals from other visionaries. More details via the

CHURCH IN VALER

Ny Kirke in Valer, Norway
Idea
The design of the new church of valer refers formally to the traditional architecture of the surrounding. The encounter with God takes place inside.
Location
The new church is located in the extension of the old church's axis. The cruciform footprint of the old church should be preserved as a monument.
Layout / flexible use
The new church of Valer fulfils more functions than its predecessor.
The cross is inscribed in a square form and dissolves in symmetrical niches allowing for diverse use: baptism, marriage, confirmation, funeral, or music rehearsals.
The chapel-like niches taper to galleries, that create access to secondary rooms.
Structure (disbanding walls)
The rooms are not separated by traditional walls.
Derived from ship construction, the new church is structured by a series of cross sectional frames along vertical guiding surfaces.
Each of these series has a rhythm of 1:3. The combination of branching or isolated planes produces varied spatial situations.
Light transmittance, spatial organization
A single serial forms a row of columns, walls and ceilings become perforated.
Zipper Principle (diagram)
Spaces form enclosed rooms, when multiple surfaces overlap or tangent like a zipper.

Prelude
The late 1920's design of the steel lattice tower was a highly economical solution offering little use of material, while keeping the overall layout very flexible.
Actually they result purely of functional and economical considerations. In a way they are "nonâdesigns".
Design Philosophy
Next to well published and controversial health issues, the public widely rejects the current pylons simply due to "visual pollution" of the environment.
So we wanted to reinvent the pylon by reducing it to an ultimate minimum, rendering them invisible in the landscape.
Due to the 2 circuit layout, the catenary curve (parabola) seemed to be both structurally and in terms of material usage the optimal single shape.
We speculate that three fibres woven into each other result in a super strong string, both keeping the shape and the integrated insulators aligned.
Selection of Material
In the beginning of the 20th century there weren't too many materials to select from for the towers.
However, today we face a real revolution in high tech materials; several lightâweight composites and ultra dense ceramics are already represented in key industrial products.
The goal was to use a contemporary material in order to save overall weight, making the production environmentally friendly and cost effective.
If we manage to come up with a nonâconductive material for the primary string structure, the insulators could be radically optimized in size.

SHOP
Shop is a fashion showroom, based on the idea of continuity. A classical shop outline was laid out and dissected in cross section lines. The sectioning design method provides a strong identity and allows for easy integration of any additional functions. The fibres are pre-shaped into their individual sections, due to their flexibility the hangers can be pulled out and pushed aside during dress selection.

WITH Paul Peyrer-Heimstätt
We made it to our mission to visualize more and more occurring, but less or not at all sanctioned atrocities. Society's attention shall be drawn to key places in the urban landscape instead of the virtual one, where it usually reaches us via news and media. In the freedom of art we see the last legislative regular opportunity to fight grievances such as corruption, illegal political lobbying, financial crimes etc.
Our proposal provides at context-relevant locations "air castles" to establish a visual response to particular information flows based on news, court orders, enquiries etc.
The installation consists of a series of inflatable volumes, enclosed by a larger fabric, with the ability to grow into a tumour-like shape with the ability of decomposing-, or bleeding-like functions. The envelope, which consists of a reflective foil, provides a distorted view through the reflection of the structure, where it is attached at, creating an illusion of a physical relationship with it and the viewer who is forced to become involved. HYDROGENIA is a floating landscape that orbits the earth at about 11,000 meters. Innumerable hydrogen-filled balloons form the gigantic basic structure and keep HYDROGENIA floating. Based on a completely autarkic low entropy energy system, HYDROGENIA is always drifting to new regions of the earth.
People are provided with completely new experiences of space and time: they enjoy spectacular views of the earth passing by and live in soft architecture that constantly re-adapts to individual wishes.
HYDROGENIA has a diameter of about three kilometres at an average height of 300 meters. The hydrogen-filled balloons form the basic supporting structure; membranes are stretched between them, holding the balloons together resulting in a soft and easily malleable structure, something like flaky pastry.
The structure is encased in an outer shell to provide additional stability and adequate climatic conditions.

ON EFFICIENCY

In this research on the urban development of Vienna we focused on the abandonment of the groundlevel zone of entrance roads in the west of the city.
the data survey on vacancies within the urban fabric, and their geographical and economical coming to being (the ongoing gentrification) created new friendships and insights on the suggestibility of micro territories.

The Project is redesigning the arrival of visitors and commuters in Venice, which generate a second Population of the City every day, by bundeling their movement into one strucutre.
Located at the land entrance point of the city, this multi-modal terminal forms a new bridgehead for Ponte della Liberta and extends the public space of Venice with its road and canal network, while simultaneously turning in on itself to create a flexible and complex urban environment which generates a gradient between the logistic island and the historic center, a transition between the present and past.
Venice is a City which was layed out to be approached by ship, layed out to arrive at the vast Piazza San Marco which represented the cities wealth and economic power.
When the link to the mainland was created in the late 19th century the perception of Venice was inverted, one would now enter it from the backdoor.
By creating a new Piazza and repeating the ensemble of Piazza San Marco the perception of the City is being mirrored, the arrival is being given a place.
The trajectories of movement generate a spatial network with optimized paths, that stages the arrival of visitors and visualises this never ending flow of tourists and commuters, hoping to create a reflected perception of the visitors impact on the City.
The aim of the project is to change the pre-established images of visitors, to create a deeper insight into the historical, cultural, economical processes within the city, in order to change the behavior of visitor and guide them away from the tourist core areas.
The terminal is operative 24 hours a day, next to a car bus and train terminal, it houses a apm station which links it to Tronchetto and the cruise ship terminal, a Water terminal which provides it with a city check in for the airport, it is also running a shuttle between the historical center and its outskirts to vitalize the historical centre of Venice also during the night.
Programmatic volumes such as auditoriums and exhibition spaces are nested within the structure.
The path system is layed out for flexible program in order to be able to the City and its events but also to react to different future scenarios .
The project is testing the typology of a multi layered public space which is provoking the idea of implementing it on the city to provide it with a second layer.
Exhibiting the past, collecting and presenting the actual and projecting the future, this building aims to create critical reflection that undermines cliched images of Venice provoking another round of the modernization vs. conservation discussion.

WITH Daniel Prost & Johan Tali
It is our aim to explore spaces of transition.
As this is a concert-hall and pop music center project we were dealing with characteristics of sound, for example gradients or dissolving masses.
The two ends of the site are connected by bands of walkable
surface which form a landscape.
The performance spaces (such as the concert-hall or clubs)
distort these bands and create ramp systems which describe space. Instead of a closed envelope the ramp/ balcony system acts as a transition zone for music to warp into the surrounding public areas creating a ambient composition of sound and space.
The building is enclosed by a braiding which constantly
interweaves between the exterior and interior. It fades out the borders.

Historically architecture always starts with a concept, an overall strategy or some kind of pre meaning. The studio proposes to re-examine the possibilities of form generation as an autonomous entity.
This Studio, a belated exercise in Fleshlogy- "becoming-animal", is not about the mimetic career of biology into and onto architecture, but of the transference of multiple physioiological scales into the systemic intelligence of the involute surface-dwelling, and back again.
Flesh instead of surface, organs instead of volume. Flesh/organs are the two components that we intent to scrutinize in this studio. By means of species and adjoin parts, the studio will reveal the design procedures as dynamic relationships.
Flesh differs from surface for its layered nature, it cannot be detached from the inner organs, it is just one more coat, it is deeply attached, it stretches and compress for the sake of smoothness, porosity and voluptuous. The model is not that of transparency and structure but rather one of cuts, inserts, nip and tuck, the hand of a plastic surgeon that manipulates matter. The horrific transmutations of bodies and faces becomes the material organizations and design expertise.
